Courtiers of the King
Court. Home sweet home to many people whom live and work within the walls of Ashbey Castle. Many of these people have been breed since birth to be of a higher stock then most. They are held to standards above that of the common people, and know that with only one false step their entire world could come crashing down. Living in a world full of executions and imprisonment, everyone must be careful around everyone else. King Edward has been in power for many years, and seems to be well loved by his people thus far. He is fair and just, but of course being in a position as high as he is, he attracts some enemies that he didn’t even know about.
King Edward died in his sleep, or at least that is the official story being told. Many suspect foul play was involved in his death, but still there is one essential element missing thus far; proof. After the untimely death of his father, Seth Edward Ashbey must now take the throne since he is the only legitimate heir left behind by the King. The boy is only nineteen, and has a reputation for being a partier, and not very responsible. Everyone waits with baited breath to see what kind of ruler this boy will turn out to be.
Of course Seth is trying his best, but he is not yet ready for such a position, and he is very hesitant about making any decisions. The poor boy is plagued by requests of the other courtiers and marriage proposals by fathers, eager to advance their family’s status in the court by having their daughter become queen. With all this stewing around the young king, he has little time to think about his father’s death, or murder, but his eldest sister is already investigating the affair quietly with the help of a few friends. But is this putting her family in danger? Who at the court would do such a terrible thing, and how long will it be before Seth or the remaining members of his family fall victim to the same fate? Only time will tell.
